		<description>If it&#039;s anything like the UK (which it is socially in a lot of ways) then I don&#039;t think so. More common for weddings probably. In the UK people don&#039;t really do baby showers, I imagine that&#039;s the case in Australia too.</description>

		<description>I&#039;m Australian and never known anyone to do it. I&#039;ve heard on this site of 1 or 2 Aussies doing it but that&#039;s it. Most people don&#039;t do baby showers either actually.</description>

		<description>Not where I live in Australia (QLD).  Have never personally known anyone (or heard of friends of friends)  to have a baby shower let alone register for gifts.  Only ever known one person to have a register for a wedding too.  Just not the done thing where I am.  Most people give gifts after the baby is born and usally nothing big just an outfit etc.  
Where I am though we have a few stores that allow lay-by (lay-away) for months to pay off items.  One local store allows you to pay off items for up to 10 months and then pick them up.  This is how we bought all our baby furniture and items.</description>
